Legal Deposit Briefing By Sarawak State Library

Today we’ve been briefed by librarians from Sarawak State Library who came along from Kuching about “Legal Deposit Services”. The briefing was held at Auditorium Room which was attended by librarians of UPM Bintulu Library and representatives from each department of UPM Bintulu. The briefing highlighted that all of the publications that published within Sarawak must be sent to Sarawak State Library according to Sarawak State Library Ordinance, 1999, which is for the preservation of materials and to create standard bibliographic records of material that published in Sarawak.So publishers shall take note as it may cost you a maximum RM3000 of fine!

Thousand Stars Dine!

It was a great dinner together with lot of food and fun at Seribu Bintang, Kampung Baru. We were served with menus ofAyam Pansuh, Mushroom Tomyam, Kari Ambal, Ikan Pari Masak 3 Rasa, Sayur Midin, Oyster Kailan and much more. Since it was the first dinner in 2011 for Library Department, it was memorable moment with special guests from PSAS UPM Serdang, Mdm Azwana, Miss Hazura, Mr. Khairil and Mr. Jefri who came for User Education Service programme at UPMKB. The dinner was also filled with games which was won by girls’ group as guys’ group just let them won it. Such a great good fun and loving family!

Hari Peladang, Penternak Dan Nelayan Peringkat Negeri Tahun 2011

This is one of the big event held in Bintulu which we’ve managed to visit. The event held for 3 days starting from 11th of March (Friday) till 13th of March (Sunday) 2011. There were lot of booths of different categories such as fruits booths, vegetables, flowers, and some other agricultural products. There were also booths of animals such as ostriches, chickens, goats, cows, horse and so on. The event also filled with stage activities such as karaoke, bermukun, live band and so on. Of course such big event will be visited with thousands of people, as well as us who’ve enjoyed the visit so much!

User Education Service

We’ve held 2 days of user education service at Info Tech Department. The classes were divided into 2 types; for Postgraduates; for Lecturers. Library Department was represented by 4 PSAS officers who came away from UPM Serdang. The users of both postgraduates students and lecturers giving a good feedback and hoping of this kind of classes can be continuously provided as while the library staff who organized really satisfied with their feedback. Thanks to everyone who get involved!

Improving English Language

Every Thursday is officially announced as English Day by Library Division as it is one of the effort to improve the usage of english language among students and staff as well.  So, in line with the mission, every library transactions and communications will be deal in english. So far both students and staff really enjoying their Thursdays because it is just been implement here for the first time. Guys, don’t be hesitate to speak out. Enjoy it!
